Course Description:

Leading in the Digital Age

The role of Management Accountants has changed dramatically in the past couple of decades, and much of that change has been caused by challenges in technology. This raises lots of questions:

    • How do management accountants lead in a digital age?
    • How is technology transforming leadership?
    • What digital skills do leaders need?
    • What other skills are necessary to manage in a digital age?
    • How can we best use technology to be better leaders?
    • How can we manage technology rather than being overwhelmed by it?

These are all questions this course explores. You’ll be able to assess your digital skills, understand digital leadership, and chart a course for becoming a better digital leader.

Learning Objectives:

After this session, you will be able to:

  1. Identify technology trends that have an impact on accounting.
  2. Explain how technology is impacting the accounting industry.
  3. Describe how technology in accounting is changing the leadership role.

4.Summarize how technology can enhance and transform leadership.

Speaker: Dr. Andy Hasty; CPA, CMA, DBA; Global Business Process Owner for Finance and Accounting; IKO Industries, Inc.

Speaker Bio:

Andy is currently a Global Business Process Owner for Finance and Accounting at IKO Industries, Inc., a global manufacturer of roofing and insulation products. In this role, he is responsible for identifying business needs, evaluating industry best practices, and developing business processes that leverage technology to improve efficiency. Andy works closely with members of the global organization to design and implement systems to support global business decisions.

 Andy also teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses at several universities, specializing in technical accounting topics and management decision making. His research interests lie in strengthening agility and critical thinking skills in the industry, concepts that he emphasizes to all students.

 Andy holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Saint Leo University and Master of Science in Accounting, MBA with a concentration in advanced accounting, and Doctor of Business Administration degrees from Wilmington University​. He holds the CMA and CPA designations as well as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.
